How do you use lube?

Choosing the perfect lubricant is not easy. See, when you buy a new sweater, you can try on five before you find the perfect one. But when it comes to lubricant, you prefer to choose the right one in one go. Fortunately, we are experts in the field of lubricants. We know both the theory and the practice of all types of lubricants on the market.

What should you pay attention to when buying lubricant? And how do you know what the best lubricant is for you? We tell you that - and more - in this article.

What is lubricant for?

Whether you play solo, in a couple or in a team, a little bit of lube can make sex so much more fun and exciting. Even if you think you already produce enough moisture yourself. This applies to both people with a penis and people with a vagina.

But what exactly lubricant is 'intended' for, that's up to you. A little lubricant in your hand when you masturbate, a small drop in the condom during penetration sex, a large drop when you masturbate as a vagina owner in the shower or even without sexual intention if you suffer from painful vaginal dryness. You can use lubricant in more ways than you might think!

Lubricant makes everything feel smoother, smoother and more sensual. That feels good to many people. And is even essential in the case of anal sex.

Silicone or water based lubricant?

Water-based lubricant is the most popular choice, because there are actually no disadvantages. Water is a body's own substance, so the risk of allergies is small. Water-based lubricant is also safe to use in combination with condoms and sex toys.

Water-based lubricant dries after a while. Intermediate lubrication may therefore be necessary in case of penetration. When inserting a toy that stays in place, no additional lubrication is necessary.

Silicone-based lubricant hardly dries. Some people therefore prefer this type for anal use or a session in the shower. But in both cases, water-based lubricants also work just fine.

Please note in combination with silicone toys: silicone lubricant can affect them.

What about oil-based lubricant?

Oil-based lubricant is the least popular. It is not safe to use in combination with condoms, it leaves stains that are difficult to wash out and you also have to scrub your body thoroughly with soap after using lubricant with oil.

Lubricant with oil is also not good for the pH of the vulva. It can even lead to fungal infections.

Natural or synthetic lubricant?

The areas on the body where lubricant is usually used are sensitive. The pH value must be balanced, the spots are susceptible to bacteria and infections and the skin is thin. A good lubricant is therefore mild to the skin. That is why more and more people are opting for a natural lubricant.

Aia* lubricant is completely natural. The main ingredients of our water-based lubricant are water (you seriously no!) and glycerine (derived from vegetable oil).

What is especially not in our lubricant: perfume, sulphate, parabens and silicones. Most lubricants do contain them. Too bad, because perfume and sulfate dry out the skin and parabens affect our hormones. So this product is also ideal for sensitive skin. And our products are vegan and not tested on animals. Sliding pleasure without animal suffering.

Do you want to know what else is in this lubricant, including an explanation of the effect and usefulness of all these substances? Then read our sliding guide.

Which lubricant is the safest?

If you use lubricant in combination with a condom or a toy, choose a water-based lubricant. Do you have sensitive skin? Then natural lubricant is the safest choice.

Can you use lubricant orally?

Not all lubricants are safe to use orally. It is better not to use silicone lubricants for this: it is unhealthy.

Because our lubricant only consists of natural ingredients, mainly water and vegetable glycerin, you can safely use it during oral sex.

Well, we wouldn't recommend stirring a whole bottle of Aia* natural lubricant into your coffee, but oral sex with this lubricant certainly won't hurt.

With or without taste, smell and tingle?

If you like oral vice, you prefer either a very neutral lubricant or one with a nice taste and smell. Many people find lubricants with taste and smell a bit intense: your bedroom turns into the fruit department and a bacon flavor while you have someone's body part in your mouth... Bit intense.

That is why Aia* opts for a neutral taste and smell in its lubricants. It doesn't taste bad, while at the same time it doesn't distract from your activity and the pleasure it provides.

We do have lubricants with a tingle. Curious? Then take a look here.

Conclusion: what is the best lubricant?

The right choice for you, of course, depends on your own preferences. But if you want to experience as many benefits as possible - safe, natural, cruelty-free, odorless and tasteless - then we have a good lubricant for you: 100% natural lubricant.
